The Yalukit Willam Nature Association (YWNA) committee is thrilled to welcome you as a member of our Association. You are joining a very active Nature Association, a key force and voice for the now Yalukit Willam Nature Reserve. The Association started as a coalition of community groups, who advocated for the establishment of a Wetland Reserve in the Elsternwick Park Golf Course and contributed to the Masterplan.
The then Elsternwick Park Coalition, became associated as the Yalukit Willam Nature Association. Our past is reflected in our present as many of the former active groups are still active as affiliates of YWNA. We formally changed our Association name in 2022 reflecting the reserve’s new name of the local Aboriginal clan Yalukit Willam (which roughly translates as ‘keepers of the waterways’) Nature Reserve.
For more history of the wetland project read here and more about the YWNA purpose here.
As a member, you can now participate in ALL our on-ground activities and will be able to vote at Annual General Meetings. We passionately advocate for best practices in the reserve (and any other urban setting) to gain tangible ecological outcomes. Your membership and voice are a vital part of caring for this extraordinary urban refuge. You can keep up-to-date with YWNA through our regular newsletters, the YWNA website, and our Facebook page.
We look forward to meeting you at any of our volunteer activities, events or gatherings. If you have any questions or wish to contribute to the association in any way, please get in contact with our team.
